1 pood (16kg) women and 1.5 pood (24kg) men?
and all swings overhead...correct?

Correct

I'd like to workout on Thursday morning before commencing gastronomic excess. If wants to show up and keep me honest, I'll be doing Cindy (or something that similarlly doesn't require equipment) at the Lake Merritt pull up bars at 11am.

Rebecca points out that I missed a word, should read:

Max has promised a trail run or something for Thursday morning. I think he said 11, though personally I'd prefer earlier to allow more cooking time.

How about at 10AM WOD? I could do 9AM as well I suppose, but don't some people want to keep it leisurely on Indigenous People's Day??

I like trail runs. I'm going to be out late tomorrow night so later on Thursday is better, but i could do 10am.

10am would be good, I think. Time to get sleep, and time to cook.

Max: can you decide on location so that we can coordinate and maybe carpool? I have room in my car for two people. Warning: dog is coming with and the car is full of dog hair and chalk dust. I'll try to vacuum before then. My vote is for Redwood. Ollie loves that park and the trail is pretty well worn.

I read too quickly and read "the dog is full of hair and chalk dust," and was wondering what the hell you do to your dog...

I vote Redwood too. Fire trail, right? Nice and wide, really convenient location. Might be a little muddy. Forecast says the rain will stop today.

I'll nominate Strawberry Canyon, the fire trail behind Memorial Stadium. In addition to being my favorite run in the bay area, i think it's close to the platonic ideal of a xfit run.

Kyle and I would be in for a trail run as well! That was our plan already, but it would be fun to go with a group. Anywhere is fine for us, and 10am works. Also I'm psyched on the Monday social climbing and am always also happy to boulder with people if they want to try that.

French Trail Connector, Redwood Park Skyline Gate, Oakland

Distance: 6.1 miles
Elevation gain: 600 feet
Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Technical rating: Medium/Hard

Just up the hill - and easily accessed from Oakland and Berkeley - lies an idyllic park that doubles as the trail-running mecca of the East Bay. The park's boundaries are criss-crossed with trails of all angles and difficulties. The French Trail connector is a good introduction to the area, combining the popular and technically easy East and West Ridge Trails with the steep, technical, and isolated French Trail. You start and finish on nearly flat, well-trodden ground, but it's the steep single-track of the French Trail that gives this run its character. The dense, redwood forest is magical terrain but can also block out so much light that you may want a head lamp long before the sun drops into the Pacific. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Directions: From the Highway 13 in Oakland, take the Joaquin Miller off-ramp and head uphill until you intersect Skyline Boulevard. Take this north (left) for about three miles to the Skyline Gate parking area. Here you'll find a map showing all of the park's trails and a drinking fountain.

Take the West Ridge Trail for .62 miles, then turn down the French Trail (marked). Follow the French Trail, up and down through the redwoods (intersections are marked) until you hit the Mill Trail. Go left for 0.2 miles to the Stream Trail. Another left, then proceed 0.1 miles to the Prince Trail, which takes you up the other side (.41 miles of STEEP) until you hit the East Ridge Trail. Head left and back to the parking area.

It seems all the trail runners are distance freaks. I cannot find anything in Redwood shorter than 10K. If anyone wants to help with this, I would like to offer a 10K and a 5K, preferably set up so that I can start a 1/2 hour behind and "sweep" the trail to make sure everyone is OK.

French trail tomorrow might be muddy as hell - it's soft dirt single track under redwoods. Might be better to stick with a fire trail for better drainage. I break a sweat HIKING Strawberry Canyon, so Alex is right - if high difficulty and short distance is what we're looking for, that might be the best choice. It's ~3.5 miles to the end of the trail, I believe. http://wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=224452

The ridge trail loop at Redwood is long: ~12 miles. Too much for me, at least.

There's also Inspiration point, which is paved (don't know if that's a plus or a minus). Won't be muddy, anyway. 4 miles each way if you go all the way to the end. http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=220463

Meh. What's a little mud? Now, a lot of mud...that could be dangerous. Can we confirm by tonight, for sure??? It's Redwood, regardless at this point, right?

My wife, Jennifer, runs at Redwood park all year round and has for many years. She says this amount of rain will not disturb French trail at all, but conversely the fire roads, because of their dustier nature, will have muddy spots.

12:54 RX (PR by 3:08!)

11:30 (Level II standard) seems in striking distance now, if I could only A) achieve faster transitions, and B) get all my pullups unbroken.

I was looking at that level 2 standard too. If you subtract for the stairs were pretty close.

11:49 rx (maybe not do it after 5x5 clean thruster next time. also done 11:17 but on a treadmill months ago. now I'm curious about my time if fresh)
