CrossFit East Bay WOD @ GWPC 081211: "Murph"
Raph D - Six Months CrossFit
Maximus L - Two years CrossFit (I have backslid a bit)
Ev R - Two Years CrossFit
"Murph"
For time:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run
In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.
This workout was one of Mike's favorites and he'd named it "Body Armor". From here on it will be referred to as "Murph" in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.
Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.

really not kidding that this is intense metcon week! But I like wods where strategy counts. I am trying to figure out the math of minimizing transitions while accounting for falling max rep counts... do you lose strength by repeatedly hitting your max rep count? does that make it harder to recover for the next round?

My first Murph!
check out the Crossfit national WOD, Box jumps, dead lifts, pull ups, could be a natural for GWPC. Matthew saw it and said no way I could do that WOD without hitting my head on the edge of the Box. Refusing to be out scandalized by a teen, I shrugged and said maybe so , but I'd still finish the Workout. Crossfit metaphysics has become a large part of our father-son interaction.

15 minutes faster than my last full Murph, first time under an hour, and first time able to run the full second mile (even sprinting the end!)
Elaine, I think you're ready for the vest.
53:16
Did 10-20-20's till all my arm stuff was done, then tagged 100 squats onto the end. (Saw Elaine running off to do her last mile and was like, "WTF!")
50:17 for 75%
Was able to run the full first mile - no walking! - for the first time ever. :-D
57:44, I did 50 pullups and then switched to 50 v-ups to prevent bleeding hands. Can't lift my arms so well today, so that was probably a good idea on my part.
oh yeah, and Elaine- you are amazing! Next time you can wear a vest and smoke us all again.
I am building a little shrine to the patron saint of small but fierce BAMF female athlestes: Elaine. HOLY SHIT, WOMAN!
